The Reverend Walter L. Bryan

Walter grew up in Tryon. When he made the grand announcement in 1972 that God had called him to the sacred order of priesthood, he was the only one surprised. It seemed that everyone else had known it for quite some time! Walter is married to Carolyn, also from Tryon. They have two children – grown and gone. Walter went to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and then to seminary at the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He was ordained in 1976 and has served several parishes, including being the senior chaplain of a maximum security prison. Walter has been rector of Good Shepherd since October 1, 2003.
